ARBORETUM, KILQUADE, CO. WICKLOW

Works involved the redevelopment of an existing 2,400 m2 garden and retail centre in Kilquade, Co. Wicklow to provide a state-of-the-art facility with roofed retail and plant areas. The works also involved the extension of the existing restaurant space which will overlook the 17 exhibition gardens of the Arboretum. The redevelopment has incorporated sustainable technologies within the Arboretum, including the new  rainwater harvesting system which will allow rainwater to be harvested and used to water plants in the garden centre. In addition, solar panels have been provided which will generate renewable electricity. The Arboretum remained open throughout the refurbishment with a special temporary structure being constructed, housing a café, garden plants, and gifting ranges. CS worked closely with the Contractor and Design Team throughout the project, with the redevelopment being designed by international garden centre specialist Rabensteiner.
